Sri Lanka Netball team depart for Asian Women Netball Championship 2024

The Sri Lanka Netball team has officially left to India to compete in the Asian Women Netball
Championship 2024, set to take place in Bangalore from October 18 to 28.

As defending champions, the team Sri Lanka aims to secure their seventh title, having previously
triumphed in 1989, 1997, 2001, 2009, 2018, and 2022.

The tournament features a competitive field divided into four groups. Sri Lanka, alongside Thailand,
hosts India, and Nepal, has been placed in Group ‘A’.

Group ‘B’ includes Singapore, the Maldives, Chinese Taipei, and Bahrain, while Group ‘C’ consists of
Malaysia, Brunei, Japan, and Iraq. Finally, Group ‘D’ will see Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia
compete for a chance to advance.

Sri Lanka Head Coach Nalika Prasadi expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, emphasizing their
commitment to maintaining the championship title. The squad is led by senior player Dulangi
Wannithilake, who is determined to guide her teammates through the challenges ahead.
